Jerry Butz, with an electrical engineering degree from Lehigh University, transitioned from a high-tech career in the semiconductor industry (LSI Logic) supporting major tech firms like Sun Micro, Intel, Cisco, and Apple to becoming an early employee in the burgeoning internet sector with companies like Match.com, Zip2, and iPin. After these ventures, he bought and expanded a Florida boat business, scaling it from $500k annually to $27M in revenue. After selling this business, Jerry was approached by an M&A Advisor to craft an exit strategy, which allowed him to step back from the relentless 7-day workweek, significantly enhancing his and his wife’s quality of life.
Now, Jerry collaborates with business owners, focusing on transitions through mergers or acquisitions, particularly in manufacturing and machine shops around the Space Coast, leveraging his extensive experience in both engineering and sales from his time at LSI Logic. Certified by the AM&AA as an M&A Advisor and with a Main Street Business Broker license from the IBBA, Jerry’s practical experience is further enriched by his involvement in these organizations. Beyond business, Jerry and his wife enjoy recreational boating and exploring local waterways and have recently engaged in property development to create a homestead for their daughters. Their love for boating ranges from casual pontoon trips to competitive sailboat racing, embodying a lifestyle that blends professional acumen with personal passion.
