Not many M&A advisors can say they’ve stood in their clients’ shoes, literally negotiating million-dollar deals from both sides of the table. George Walker brings a rare combination of operational business ownership and M&A transaction experience to every client engagement.
His Journey: George isn’t your typical M&A advisor. Before joining TREP Advisors in 2024, he was a co-owner of a pavement materials manufacturing company. He spent years as a sales and business development consultant in the Manufacturing, Transportation, and Oil & Gas sectors.
In 2012, George negotiated his first major deal, securing an $80 million acquisition as a consultant for a strategic buyer in the transportation industry. Since then, he’s been actively involved in numerous M&A transactions across various sectors, bringing a real-world perspective that comes only from operating in the trenches.
Why This Matters for Clients: “I’ve been the business owner who has lost sleep while analyzing big decisions,” George shares. “I understand the weight of the stress, the concerns about employees’ livelihoods, the feeling of standing on a knife-edge precipice when deciding to exit. That experience shapes how I advise clients with empathy, honesty, and a focus on what truly matters to them and their families.”
His Approach: George specializes in working with business owners in manufacturing, construction materials, and transportation sectors.. His technical understanding of these industries allows him to spot value drivers that others might miss and position his clients’ businesses strategically for the right buyers.
Beyond the Boardroom: A Greenville, SC native, George lives there with his wife and daughter. When he’s not helping clients navigate complex transactions, you’ll find him fly fishing, hunting, or skiing. “Business is important, but so is living fully,” he says. “I want that for my clients too, helping them exit successfully so they can pursue what matters the most.”
Education: Washington and Lee University
Why George Joined TREP: “TREP’s 4 pillars philosophy and commerce ethos align perfectly with how I’ve always approached business: relationship-first, integrity-driven, and focused on the long-term success of the client, not just closing a deal. Plus, our collaborative team approach means that my clients benefit from a diverse collective of business ownership and operational experience.”
If you’re a business owner in manufacturing, transportation, or industrial services considering your exit options, George would welcome a conversation. No pressure, just straight talk from someone who’s walked in your shoes.
