Jay Wood

Director, M&A Services

Jay Wood graduated from Cumberland County High School and immediately entered the HVAC trade, where he spent 30 years owning and operating a Mechanical HVAC/Plumbing company. His expertise is underscored by his State of Tennessee CMC full mechanical license and a limited electrical license. After selling his company, Jay transitioned into the M&A sector, specifically focusing on helping business owners in the mechanical industries of HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical to recognize and maximize the value of their businesses. His firsthand experience as a seller and his deep understanding of the mechanical trade positions him uniquely to guide others through the complexities of business transactions.

Jay’s strongest skill lies in his ability to empathize with sellers, having navigated the sale process himself. He emphasizes listening to clients to understand their needs and then works diligently with potential buyers to meet them. He serves as a Board member at the Upper Cumberland Credit Union, keeping him abreast of financial trends. His dedication to educating business owners about their company’s value has led to significant outcomes; for instance, one group of owners he worked with sold their company for twice what they initially anticipated. Jay enjoys deer hunting and nature and is deeply involved in mission work through his church, reflecting his commitment to community and service. His customer-first approach ensures that once a client commits, he remains dedicated until the deal is completed.
